Counseling Process:

Whether you have been in counseling before or are seeking counseling for the first time, there are often many fears attached to what the counseling process looks like. Sometimes it can be helpful to have a picture in mind of what to expect - practically speaking - when entering into counseling.
My office is located in the Shoreline neighborhood, just 10 minutes north of Seattle, at Restoration Counseling Services. The counseling center is located inside a church building (Aurora Nazarene Church), though
it is not directly associated with the church. When you arrive, the receptionist will direct you to the counseling center's waiting room and I will come get you at the time of our scheduled appointment.
For your first session, you should arrive at least 25 minutes early to fill out an Intake Summary and read and sign a Disclosure Statement. I will have these forms ready for you in the waiting room.
Our first few sessions will serve as an introduction into your life, i.e. why you are seeking counseling at this time, what you hope for from this experience, as well as to provide a good starting point that will build the basis for our therapeutic relationship. This time is also a good opportunity to ask me questions about the counseling process and what you might expect from me. You can find out more about my style as a therapist under
Therapeutic Approach.
I look forward to meeting you and being with you!
